Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Jéhan Òsanyìn is a gender vacillating, one-sided storyteller, actor, playwright, and educator. Her playwright credits include, Yankee Pickney (2017 Gregory Award Nomination – Outstanding New Play), Sala Kakuhle, Mama (MPAACT Theatre’s Solo Jams), and Checkmate!. As a performer, her credits include Yankee Pickney at Theater Schmeater, Clarice in Seattle Public Theatre’s The Liar, Kalonike in Gamut Theatre Group’s Lysistrata, Lori, Kay, Cynthia, and Mrs. Price in Open Stage Theatre’s WELL, and Lillian Hellman in Intiman Theatre’s Emerging Artist Showcase, among others. As an educator, Jéhan founded Earthseed, a community development cooperative that uses theatre in wild spaces to decolonize those spaces and the bodies that pass through them.

Jéhan received 2017 GAP Award funding to edit Yankee Pickney into a 20-minute version of itself so that it can tour to high schools and to create a curriculum for talkback sessions after the show. Jéhan will also use funding to take existing footage from one of the performances to create a short video to use as a work sample for future grant applications.
